July Update - Cover Art Preview
about 6 years ago – Fri, Jul 10, 2020 at 09:27:56 PM

Hello everyone!

Hope you all are staying safe and staying healthy.

Well... it is July.  The delay in production has lingered and I regret making promises in my last update that are unfulfilled.  I don't want to spend this update making excuses. So, instead I'll simply say I'm sorry for the delay and I promise you that work is progressing. It's just going a little slower than expected.

Here is what is left to do:

-Finalize Layout

-Final Proofread

-Finalize Quest Table

-Finalize Cover

I should be able to knock this out in 2 or 3 focused sessions of work and I want my next update to simply say: "Your zine is at the printer!"

Thank you for your trust and your patience.  Here's a little preview of the direction the cover is headed.

Stay well and thank you so much for your support!

June 1st - Digital Drop Postponed - Re-write Sprints & Cover Layout
about 6 years ago – Mon, Jun 01, 2020 at 10:26:22 PM

Good Morning all.  I hope you are safe and healthy out there.

Well, it is June 1st, meaning that we have missed our goal of having the digital zines to backers in May. Thank you for your patience while I work to finalize the zine and get it into a format that can be released to all of you amazing gamers.

It's just not done yet.  A combination of pandemic lock-down and an increase in work load in the muggle job has seen me spending less time on the re-writes and edits of the Characters zine.

There are still editing passes to complete and I still need to get a finalized layout for the color cover. In order to get this done, I will be working in "sprint" sessions this weekend.  It is my hope that on Monday I can be in a position to have the zine released digitally.  If that does not occur, then I will have another update on Monday to let you know where I am and what is left to complete to get you your digital zine.

I want to take a moment to specifically state that the blame for the delay in release falls squarely on my shoulders.  The co-contributors to the "Characters" zine have all completed their work and have had their contributions to me for some time now. This delay is one of a failure for the publisher (me) to finalize the book.

Again, thank you for your patience.  You will have the book in short order. I hope to meet all of the remaining deadlines for physical disbursement. To that end, be on the look out for a backer kit email some time early next week, likely directly after the Monday update.

Stay safe out there.  I do not have the words to describe the trauma of current events and it is not my place to do so.  I will say this: Wash your hands. Wear your mask. Love is love. Black lives matter.

May Update and more Cover Assets!
over 6 years ago – Wed, May 06, 2020 at 02:20:08 PM

Hello all!

I hope you remain happy and healthy during these interesting times.

I don't have a ton of updates for you for May, but I wanted to check in to tell you that we remain on schedule to hit our milestones and deadlines.  That means that we plan on having the pdfs to you by the end of this month.  I must admit that my work on this zine has not been as steady and determined as my work on One Page Dungeons.  This corona virus isolation has us all running a little low on energy.  Regardless, I remain committed to finalizing this zine and meeting all of the deadlines from the campaign and whole-heartedly believe that I am on track to do so.

I am currently re-writing the second d100 table and working through some proof reading on the character descriptions. Once these tasks are finished, I will put together our color cover and do a final edit before getting these zines out to you all!

Speaking of color covers, have some more color assets!  These beautiful images will be combined with the images from April's update to make our final color cover.

Stay safe and healthy everyone.  I will be back in touch soon!

April Update. Cover Assets Sneak Preview!
over 6 years ago – Fri, Apr 03, 2020 at 10:56:19 PM

Hello all!

I hope you and your friends and family are safe and healthy in these turbulent and scary times.  I am bunkered down in my basement in Charleston, West Virginia, working from home and managing as best as I can.  My best wishes to you!

Nothing new to report.  The re-write process is always a slow and steady affair.  I find it is important to take time away from the project for a few days at a time so that my eyes are fresh when I revisit it.  I am a couple of sprints away from having a finished product that can then go to editing.

We are on track to hit the goals set forth in the campaign and I can't wait to get you this zine!

There is some really great news to share! I have received the art assets necessary for our color cover from the artists and they look great.  Don't want to spoil too much yet, but here's a little taste for you...

Stay safe out there and thanks so much for all your support!

Thank you all so much!

I am so happy to have this Characters Collection funded and for the color cover!

I will get to work on re-write and revision sprints to get the zine done.  Once I get the art assets for the cover and get the revisions completed, we will begin final editing, proofreading, and finalization of the document.

Digital zines should go out in the next 4-6 weeks, depending on finalization of the color cover. Expect your survey from Backerkit at that time. You can expect to receive your physical zine 6-8 weeks after that.  Essentially, we are confident we can fulfill your pledges by the deadlines stated in the kickstarter campaign itself.

Meanwhile, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Thanks so much for all your support!
